The best coffee table book of the year, as selected by Strategist editor Alexis Swerdloff.
| Sure, I'm a little biased, but I truly believe that this enormous book, written on the occasion of New York's 50th anniversary, is the most giftable coffee-table book of the year. It's the story of New York Magazine, which launched in 1968, but it's also the story of New York, the city, which "went from broke to rich, from busted-down to gleaming, through three blackouts, two terror attacks, and one real-estate boom that never seems to end." Everyone I know and love will be getting this book because it's excellent and only $40 and filled with beautiful photos and comes with an Approval Matrix poster. —Alexis Swerdloff, editor, The Strategist | | | | | | | |
